FL in January
We got (somewhat) out of the cold with a trip to Florida. I had fun seeing old friends, getting my jogging legs back, and enjoying lots of time with my sister and parents. I was happy to be down to attend Joanna's sprinkle to celebrate the pending arrival of baby Ashlyn. Leslie Magnone and her mom threw a beautiful shower for Anna. It was so much fun watching Anna receive gifts and books for she and Andi and getting well wishes from so many wonderful people from her childhood. Dan flew in mid-week and we were blessed by a visit from his parents, their foster kids, and Dan's sisters. Everyone and Lorraine and Gail got together for a cookout and birthday cake for Isaac. It was fun to have all 4 of his grandparents together to celebrate his 1st birthday!

chicken
conversation at dinner tonight:
Cora: Mom 'chicken' and 'chicken' sound the same. That's funny because we have chicken the animal and chicken we eat.
Me: yes
Cora: Well where does the chicken we eat come from. Do the chickens make it?
Me: not exactly
Cora: What is chicken we eat?
Me: (hesitantly) Well, Cora, the chicken we eat is the animal chicken. We eat the animal chicken.
Cora: (laughing) Mom, that's silly, we don't eat the animal chicken! That would be mean.
Fortunately, she got distracted by her distorted reflection in her spoon at that point. This now gives me time to consult with Dan on what we say next time this subject comes up. Parenting, oy vey!
